An installation of eight flags at Asiat Park, Vilvoorde.

Positioned on top of the park’s recurring concrete sewer columns, these flags rise high, inviting us to engage in the debate about women in public space. It redresses the balance of representation by bringing femininity into the traditionally male-dominated environment of Asiat Park, rooted in its history as a military base.
Raising Statues came into being during an intensive trajectory through a collaboration between Campus De Brug with a group of secondary school students in Vilvoorde and BiLT, a project of TheWorkshop.
